New Work

I am posting some of the projects I have been working on for the past month or so.
  1. I completed a painted violin for a University of Michigan Musical Society Fundraising Auction and documented the process along the way.
  2. A mixed media piece I created from the violin sketches I made up when brainstorming.
  3. I also experimented with a stylized, almost abstracted piece that was accepted in the Great Lakes Small Works show 2013 at the Riverside Arts Center.

Wow! Barbara! This is awesome! and so very imaginative and exciting! I'd like to see it in person, and see how the shapes move around the violin... I'm so impressed!

The violin is truly a "one of a kind" piece of artwork! I don't know that I would have had the nerve to try it! Wonderful.

Hi Liz,
Thanks so much for your kind comments. It almost felt sacrilegious to sand down that violin, but as I pushed on, it became mine to transform.

The funds from the University of Michigan Musical Society dinner and auction will go to give more arts education to children who are usually not exposed to classical music.
