This past year has been one of transitions and new creative opportunities. After retiring from teaching at Washtenaw Community College, where I had the pleasure of teaching since 2010, I’ve been focusing my energy on art.
I’ve been collaborating with my daughter on several children’s book illustration projects, while also creating new fine art pieces. It’s been wonderful to devote more time to both storytelling through illustration and exploring subjects that inspire me.
This colored pencil piece will be included in the upcoming butterfly-themed art show presented by the Detroit Chapter of the Colored Pencil Society at the Detroit Zoo. Butterflies have always fascinated me, and I love creating artwork inspired by their beauty and incredible diversity. Visiting butterfly exhibits never fails to spark my imagination, and I look forward to returning again soon.
