Student with art  (pastel and colored pencil)

I will begin teaching a new session of Drawing in Color at Washtenaw Community College - Community Enrichment, Starting on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 for 8 weeks, 6:15 PM- 8:45 PM
Using professional-grade colored pencils, water-soluble colored pencils, graphite, pastels and other media, we will explore color theory and its application. A combination of demonstration, one-on-one guidance and individual studio time will help improve your technique and stimulate creativity. Beginning students will have structured lessons. Advanced and continuing students will have one-on-one instruction & studio time. An optional class critique will be available.

Thomas Hart Benton's Home & Studio

I had the opportunity to visit Thomas Hart Benton's home and studio in Kansas City.  His art has always appealed to me. It was interesting to see where and how he created his paintings.  A lot of preparation went into sketches and preparing sculptures to use as references while he painted.  I also learned that he could be a crusty (or grumpy) man.  This was disappointing, but I will separate my love of his art, from my feelings about his personality.
